Game Guide: Characters: Archmage Khadgar

Archmage Khadgar

Council of Six

A wizard of the highest caliber, Khadgar is focused on defending Azeroth from an invading army of merciless orcs, and he is willing to sacrifice much to do so.

Once the young apprentice of the Guardian Medivh, Archmage Khadgar is a savvy veteran of the First and Second Wars. When he uncovered Medivh's scheme to open a portal from Draenor and unleash demon-tainted orcs on Azeroth, Khadgar helped confront and defeat his master. During the battle, Khadgar was struck by a terrible spell and aged dramatically. His body turned frail, but his mind remained sharp. After the orcs were driven back through the Dark Portal, Khadgar supervised the construction of Nethergarde Keep, a fortress built to watch over the breach between realms.

All seemed quiet at the Dark Portal, until the orc traitor Garrosh carved a path into an alternate version of Draenor's past. There, the legendary orc warlord Grommash Hellscream forged a destructive army of orcs: the Iron Horde. Using Garrosh's knowledge of the original portal, the Iron Horde built a new gateway to Azeroth. With little to stop the orcs, the Iron Horde poured into Azeroth and laid waste to Nethergarde Keep. Unrivaled in his wisdom and experience, Khadgar was summoned to help repel the invasion. War looms over the Dark Portal yet again. Khadgar is one of the most powerful magi on Azeroth, but unless the Alliance and the Horde unify in their struggle against the Iron Horde, he alone cannot prevent the obliteration of two worlds.

Homeland

Archmage Khadgar, with his extensive experience battling orcs and the Burning Legion, moves with the vanguard of Azeroth's heroes as they push the Iron Horde back from Nethergarde Keep into the Blasted Lands, through the Dark Portal, and all the way to the savage realm of Draenor.
